A few photos I took in October 2000, scouting for Eugene Fagan's former residences in Manhattan. Where most of them stood, I found obviously newer buildings. The buildings shown below could have been there during his period, ca. 1860s-1890s.
222-218 E 27th
These 5-story walk-ups currently standing at 222, 220 and 218 East 27th St are probably of 19th century vintage. The Fagans lived in number 218 (right-hand door) from roughly 1887-1889.
226 E 27th
The family lived at another 5-story brick walk-up, at 226 East 27th (the building painted red) from roughly 1890 to 1897. On Feb 3, 1895 Eugene's son Aloysius, aged 15, died of epilepsy at this address.
