Letter from Montreal
Letter to Margaret Evans from Bella BROWN in Montreal, Oct 10, 1873 The last number in year is faint. It could be 2 or 5; however the envelope seems to be postmarked 73. Evidently, Bella Brown visited Margaret and Annie in Astoria.

The Envelope is addressed to Mrs Margaret Evans, 2d Avenue Astoria, Queens County L I, New York and is affixed with a 6-cent Canadian stamp.
Dear Friend.

I write you these few lines hoping to find you in good health as this leaves me at present.
I would have written sooner but I wanted to see your brother. He is well and all the family. Tommy wife was very sorry that she did not know that we were going on to see you or she would have sent some message by us.

They were very much surprised when we told them we spent a night with you. Christy was glad to hear that you and Annie were enjoying good health. Every thing is very dull(?) here and their is no prospect of things brightening up. The plants you gave me are growing beautifully. I am taking great care of them. I hope that you and Annie will have your minds made up by next summer to come on a visit. I am sure you would enjoy it very much for all your friends would be glad to see you. Christy sends her love to you and Annie and would like to hear from you.

My husband and I sent our love to you and Annie. No more at present. I remain your true friend.
Bella Brown

Please answer this and direct your letter to 55 1/2 McCord St to Mrs John Brown. Do not forget to write soon.
