Our known progenitor is Patrick HOGAN. The hypothetical sections of this chart show my current best guess at his relationship to other HOGANs in Manhattan who are linked somehow.
Patrick's only certain connection was to George B. HOGAN, a shoemaker in the same age group, living on E. 18th and then W. 15th Street On Jun 21, 1857, Patrick stood as witness to George's naturalization process and on Oct 22, 1866, George stood as witness to Patrick. They may or may not have been brothers.
George Hogan, in turn, was buried with two MCMAHON women, Annie and Catharine. Both were reportedly born HOGAN. These two are penciled in as sisters, as they were also in his age-group.
On Annie (HOGAN) MCMAHON's death certificate (b. ca. 1834 Ireland, d. 1912 Manhattan) George HOGAN and Ann BROWN were stated as her parents. These names would greatly favor a connection with Patrick, as they were the names of Patrick's firstborn son and daughter.
Ann and Catharine MCMAHON stated on the 1900 census that the two were sisters, however Catharine's death certificate named a different father: Richard HOGAN. Note that death certificates are the least reliable of sources. .
