  • 1875 directory listing: an Andrew MCMAHON Andw R. painter, 102 Elm St, residence at 100 W 37th. (Elm is not on current day Manhattan maps, but was the lower portion of Lafayette). This was probably the Andrew MCMAHON who married the widowed Catharine (HOGAN) SCOTT.
  • 1885 directory listing: Catherine, wid Andrew R. 237 W. 40th
  • Mar 01, 1891 John R MCMAHON, age 60, died of a heart attack at 5th av bet 32 & 33d st. There was nothing in his death certificate to indicate what he was doing there. His occupation was driver and his residence at that time (off map) was reported as 979 3d av [59th st]
  • 1892 directory showed John's widow's listing: Anne, wid John, at 256 W 41st (her first personal listing, and last until she moved to the Bronx)
  • 1891 directory listing: Cath., wid Andrew R., 503 W 23rd
  • 1885 directory: a Francis HOGAN lived at 553 1st Avenue. No occupation given. This could have been Francis J.'s father
  • 1892 directory: Francis. laborer 524 W 131st; so did a William E.
  • the 1895 directory showed Francis Jr's first listing: Francis J., stenographer, 120 B'way h. 631 2nd av
