to doc list FLANAGAN FAMILY IN ASTORIA, QUEENS
The Old Homestead
This shows the house on Second Avenue (aka Debevoise Ave.) in Astoria known to descendants of Andrew and Sarah Flanagan as the "Old Homestead." This property came into Andrew's possession on December 9, 1850.

Because the houses in Astoria were unnumbered until years after the deaths of Andrew and Sarah, I have been unable to determine for certain the modern address of the house. However, I suspect the house was 539 Second Avenue, which was inhabited by the son Henry between (at least) 1888 and 1904. Queens streets and addresses were renumbered, however, during the late 1920s, after the house left the family's possession. My best guess is that the house was near the middle of the block numbered between 30-00 and 30-68 31st Street. Today, the house is gone and in its place are nondescript commercial buildings.
